Cabo San Lucas (or just 'Cabo', cape in English) is a small resort city at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula, in the state of Baja California Sur, Mexico.
The first humans came to the southern end of the peninsula 14,000 years ago. When first Europeans arrived, they encountered nomadic groups of Pericú surviving by gathering, hunting and fishing.
Some claim that Cabo San Lucas was founded by an Englishman named Thomas Ritchie, when he arrived here in 1828.
Cabo San Lucas is known for its picturesque location, sandy beaches, deep turquoise water, world-class scuba diving, sport fishing. One of the local attractions is the distinctive sea arch El Arco de Cabo San Lucas, or Arch at Lands End Cabo San Lucas, a popular sea lion hangout.
Cabo San Lucas has become a high-end holiday destination with some of Mexico’s top luxury resorts, exclusive hotels, nightclubs, villas and timeshares. The town is also a popular port of call for many cruise ships, which entertain their passengers with things like parasailing and swimming with dolphins.
