Palm Springs is a desert city in California approximately 110 miles (177 km) east of Los Angeles and 140 miles (225 km) northeast of San Diego. It is one of nine adjacent cities that make up the Coachella Valley (Palm Springs area).

Golf, swimming, tennis, horseback riding, and hiking in the nearby desert and mountain areas are major forms of recreation in Palm Springs.

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway features the world's largest rotating tramcars which take you to the top of mount San Jacinto to an altitude of 8,500 feet (2,600 m).
